OVERVIEW
Shubhshree Mathur is a tea lover, bibliophile, and a houseplant. Apart from that she is also a versatile creative professional with a rich and diverse portfolio encompassing 10 years of writing, illustration, curation, branding, research, and teaching. She has had the privilege of working on numerous projects for children’s publishing houses, such as Room to Read, Pratham Books, Mango Books DC, and Eklavya Pitara, among others. Her editorial artworks have graced the pages of magazines like Pluto, Chakmak, Champak, and Travel Links. Her artistic inspiration thrives on surroundings and experiences, as well as her strong connection to her family.
Some of her creative endeavors include her complete written and illustrated poetry and prose published with The Alipore Post, Nivala.co, The Blahcksheep, and Karuna Stories anthology.
With a Masters in Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai, and a B.A. Honors in Fashion Design from Pearl Academy of Fashion, Nottingham Trent University, Jaipur, Shubhshree brings a multidisciplinary approach to her work. Her academic background is further enriched by a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Economics, and Sociology from Kota University.
Shubhshree is also an experienced educator, currently serving her 5th year as Faculty in Information Arts and Design Practices at Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, Bangalore. She has held a teaching position for 3 years at Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune, where she shared her expertise in fashion and communication.

CURRENT PRACTICE AT SRISHTI
During the 5years of working at SMI (including SI) modules and studios facilitated by Shubhshree, have been in the realms of narratives, illustration, storytelling and communication design. These have been taught across UG 2nd and 3rd year. Graduation thesis projects with outputs like publication, films, animation, artistic installations, packaging and branding were also mentored by her. These projects ranged from client driven briefs like free legal aid to significant autoethnographic proposals around parenting, body image, gender etc. Some of studios facilitated are Narrative Intersections, Communication for change, Information and Storytelling, Mixed-Media Narratives, Craft to Evoke, Narratives for Self, Future Climate- Neighborhood Studies etc.
TEACHING PORTFOLIO
1&2-The student envisaged her changing neighbourhood as herself ageing in spirit with brick and mortar and mapped the transitions from memory and experiences in the form of diary entries and changing the visual narrative.
3&4- The student collected images and data on trash in her street and designed an alphabet book using the type /text from the same trash. Does it inform the amount of trash, the english alphabet or the future of the street?
5&6- Two narratives about 2 girls living in different parts of our country having different family dynamics and their relationship with life in general.
