OVERVIEW
Jitto is an artist, a researcher and a storyteller. He considers all creative expressions as the evidence of living beings’ physical and intellectual existence. He brings to light the marginal lives of those who otherwise remain unnoticed; just someone in the crowd or simply a surviving subject in this world. His story-based works evolve from observations and experiences with different environments and the non-narrative works emerge out of intuition and spontaneity.
EDUCATION
He has an MVA and a BFA in Art History and Aesthetics from MS. University of Baroda, Gujarat.
WORK EXPERIENCE
He is a faculty at SMI. He is a recipient of the Senior Research Fellowship award from UGC, Govt. of India from 2018-2021. He was a guest lecturer at R.L.V College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura, Kerala. He has been involved with various assignments for script writing and production for films. He has presented a research paper at the Young Researchers National Seminar and showcased his film at the Hyderabad Literary Festival.
INTEREST AREAS
His research areas are Art History, Philosophy and Patronage in Art, specifically in Indian art. His interests are storytelling, photography, and filmmaking.
CURRENT PRACTICE AT SRISHTI
He teaches across the undergraduate programs. He designs units with inputs from philosophy and art history with an emphasis on making as an unavoidable aspect of learning about art. It helps the learner understand the intricacies, expertise and struggles in art-making that are necessary to critically analyse contemporary practices in art, design and technology.
TEACHING PORTFOLIO
CREATIVE PRACTICE & OUTREACH
His creative practice involves the precious act of scribbling thoughts on paper, making drawings, and experimenting with digital media. He makes short films and attempts to bring on-screen the innocence, struggles, dreams and social satires.
