INTEREST AREAS
In my pursuit of a Ph.D. in art, I am focusing on satire within the realm of Indian art, spanning several decades. This research is practice-based, meaning that alongside theoretical exploration, I will be actively creating artworks to delve deeper into this subject. Drawing on my passion for art history, I aim to enrich my understanding of satire’s context within Indian artistic traditions.
My research will involve an in-depth analysis of satire in Indian art, examining its evolution, significance, and cultural impact over time. By situating satire within its historical and social contexts, I seek to uncover the nuanced ways in which artists have used this form of expression to critique, comment on, and engage with the world around them.
In addition to theoretical inquiry, I will be creating artworks in the form of paintings and prints. These artistic endeavors will serve as a means of exploring and interrogating the themes and motifs central to my research. Through my artistic practice, I hope to gain insights that may not be accessible through academic study alone, allowing me to develop a deeper understanding of satire’s role in Indian art.
Overall, my Ph.D. journey represents a convergence of my interests in art history, artistic practice, and cultural inquiry. By blending theoretical research with hands-on creative exploration, I aim to contribute to a richer understanding of satire in Indian art while furthering my own growth as a scholar and artist.
