SMI to continue the pedagogical practice via Art in Transit lab in partnership with BMRCL

The Memorandum of Understanding between Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology (SMI) and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) was endorsed on 7 March 2025 to continue the pedagogical practice via the Art in Transit lab for 2 years after marking our institutional collaboration there officially for 9 years in the running.
Dr. Arindam Das, Director of SMI, and Ms. Kalpana Kataria IRS, Executive Director, BMRCL, were present. This Agreement permits the Institution to host, invite, and curate public art practices across local artists, designers, research, and practitioner networks across institutions and organizations in collaboration.
Our current research initiatives:
Water Stories : Making Visible Water heritage, negligence towards conservation action and care.
Living Libraries: Art-based research that leverages the focus on Bengaluru’s urban ecology through narratives.
