Call for Proposals: Artistic Identity in Research Projects
The symposium offers a platform for visions of artistic research and its possible definitions, methods and forms of transfer and transmission. At the heart of this research lies artistic practice itself: as an object, as a source of central questions and as the initiator of new insights and knowledge, focusing on “Artistic Identity in Research Projects”.
The symposium is organised by the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, with contributions from the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (Frankfurt am Main), the Barenboim-Said Akademie (Berlin), and the ZKM Karlsruhe. We aim to create an open space for exchange on artistic identity and new forms of knowledge and musical experience emerging from artistic practice.
The symposium includes:
- Best-practice presentations by colleagues from Gent, Glasgow, Ljubljana, Porto, Tallinn, and Vienna
- Roundtables and panel discussions
- Lectures and research presentations
- Lecture performances
- Concerts
Submissions are invited in two formats:
- Lecture presentations (20 minutes + discussion): presentations addressing one or more distinct questions emerging from artistic practice.
- Lecture performances (30 minutes total): performative formats combining artistic presentation and reflective contextualization. Live performance is preferred, though high-quality video presentations are also possible where appropriate.
- Presentations may be held in English or German.
