Design Strategy

“Strategy is the creation of a unique and valuable position, involving a different set of activities,” - Michael Porter

Focus of this discipline is introduction to an understanding of the strategic position, making strategic choices for the future and managing strategy in action, in the context of a design-led process. Various practices will be studied and discussed for an overall understanding of industry practices in the form of case studies and field visits. The units will address processes involved in consumer needs and competitive environments.

Guiding Principle

The main objective is to inculcate and practice critical thinking and thereby make logical connections between the ideas to think clearly and rationally. Fostering an ability to apply logical thinking and visionary thinking to gather and analyze information to formulate plans is an additional principle. Another objective in the pedagogic approach is to bring about a common denominator to interpret various global practices in strategy.
