INTEREST AREAS

As a maker, I constantly strive to utilize my professional skills as a storyteller-educator-game designer & build further on relatively newly acquired skills such as weaving, crochet & origami. As a learner, mentor, facilitator and guide, these quests have encouraged me to design for classrooms where material explorations using technology & hand-skills come together to enhance learning experiences. I am interested in research areas around & through play that involve all kinds of communities that are inclusive. I want to explore possibilities of slow & deep learning through play and it’s long term impact in the future of humankind.

CURRENT PRACTICE AT SRISHTI

To develop and deliver curriculums related to Foundation Study programme, Creative Education, Information Art and Information Design Practice & Digital Media Art. This includes detailed lesson plans, audit reports, documentation and setting up of assignments. I am responsible for designing assessment for evaluating students’ understanding. As a mentor & tutor, I provide guidance and support to students who work on subjects related to my field of interest (Tabletop games). I assist with focussed portfolio development. My other administrative tasks include outreach programmes and networking with industry. I engage with industry specialists and onboard them as visiting faculties for delivering specific modules. I engage with the larger community through mending circles and game clubs to extend the micro learning opportunities beyond classroom.

TEACHING PORTFOLIO

I have roughly delivered close to 20 studio units including design sprint workshops and taken multiple batches of students for study of social ecology/ environmental perception as part of their foundation programme. Having taught across the spectrum of disciplines at various levels in the last 5 years, I have constantly learned new ways of skill sharing and teaching. I have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with new software and collaborative tools that enable the students to stay motivated and engaged. I largely teach courses related to fundamentals of game design, gamification and digital making tools, form & structure, contextual enquiry, Basics of Origami, Study of Social Ecology, basics of Inkle loom weaving & tablet weaving.

CREATIVE PRACTICE & OUTREACH

As a creative professional with extensive experience in photo and video documentation, my practice is deeply rooted in capturing the intricate tapestry of cultural, environmental, and social narratives.
Transitioning to environmental advocacy, I served as a Research Associate and Documentary Film Producer, creating short films for various organisations. These projects underscore environmental issues, blending research with compelling visual narratives to highlight the urgent challenges faced by mountain communities. I have produced short films for organizations like ICIMOD, INSEDA and ‘mNAP: Space to Hear,’ funded by the Arts Humanity Research Council (UK). These projects allowed me to explore sustainable energy solutions and the nuanced experiences of auditory spaces, respectively, further diversifying my storytelling approach.

On the design education front, I have taken numerous workshops on fundamentals of Game Design across several design schools in India including National Institute of Design, Pearl Academy, Doon School, Riverside School, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, The Design Village, École Intuit Lab, NID Kurukshetra, Chitkara School of Design and Nirma University.
