T.M. Krishna at SITE SEEING

SITE SEEING is a Creative Writing course offered by Mamta Sagar as part of general studies units at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology.

The unit ‘Site Seeing’ introduces students to historical junctures, site specificity, creative interpretations and documentation. Students will be familiarised with poetry, politics and lives of Subramania Bharati and Mohammed Iqbal, two important poets from the India National Movement.

Students will identify a site and construct narratives around it based on the poems that they read. They work towards transforming the site into an imaginary plot that hosts incidents, meetings, happenings, memories of time and people they come across in the poems. Site narratives will be inspired by poetry, politics and lives of Subramania Bharati and Mohammed Iqbal. By the end of the course, they recreate the site as an installation. The process involves them in writing poems, stories, interviews, news reports, making short video documentation and photo narrative based on the poems juxtaposed with the site.
