The post-graduate course in Game Design and Development is currently focused on Game Design and students are welcome to work across a broad spectrum of interactive art. Expertise, faculty and inputs are available through a choice based system in game design and development and also to work in contexts overlapping with other post-graduate courses at Srishti.

The program is designed to develop an individual voice and artistic practice in game design. Hence the need of each student, their background, and their intent during the course will greatly determine the roles they can acquire once they graduate. The emphasis is on developing a holistic understanding of the possibilities of these fields. The student can choose to develop skills in a stream of their choice and also combine skills from post-graduate courses from other disciplines offered across Srishti. Graduates with a post-graduate award in Game Design and Development will be able to function in different roles in the interactive media, games and entertainment industry. In the games industry, the focus will be on roles like Game Designer, Gameplay Programmer/Scripter, Level Designer, Narrative Designer etc.

Games is an inherently attractive media and a lot of people seems to have a passion for it which precedes their choice of this course. If you are interested in play and design, interested in creating simulations, enjoys challenges  and  willing to pick up programming, the world of games is pretty much yours to conquer.

The course at Srishti gives high importance to context-based work. The context could be that of the industry, it could pertain to social, cultural or environmental themes, or be an enquiry of the personal and the content of one’s own experience and art making practices. The program is designed to help students be better learners and pursue their own goals and lines of enquiry. Situated in a multidisciplinary environment, there are good possibilities of comparing, acquiring and appropriating methods and practices from other disciplines into one’s own practice of digital media.
