The Writing Center at Srishti aims to encourage and develop the writing skills of the Srishti Community. Writing is a key element to and of communication. Through the act of writing, the Center looks to foster and promote critical engagement with the relationship between art and design thinking, communication and documentation. The aim is to also emphasize the process of writing - writing, editing, rewriting and proofreading. In a world where good writing has become a premium, the Writing Center at Srishti actively intends to fill the gap by encouraging and nurturing good writing skills in the students.
The Writing Center at Srishti is one of the most sought after ancillaries of the institution. On an average, it deals with at least ten students a week, providing support to individual concerns of students in the areas of academic or creative writing. Since its conceptualization in 2013, the Center is actively involved in helping students develop proposals, publish their writings and provides guidance in writing for applications for higher studies abroad and in the country. The Center also provides support to the members of the faculty at Srishti, in teaching writing in their respective disciplines, as well as in developing their own writing skills towards proposals and publications.
What We Do
The Writing Center operates as a democratic space where everyone is welcomed and encouraged to become better writers. Through one-on-one tutoring sessions, you will be guided through the intricate process of writing.
Students and faculty are supported in their writing in the context of teaching and learning, as well as outside of the educational context and that is not be related to coursework.
Emphasis is laid on helping students understand conceptual issues, as well as grammatical problems in their papers. The Writing Center at Srishti helps students understand assignments, brainstorm, organize, focus, and develop their written works in order to become effective writers. We conduct various workshops to introduce students to the various aspects of writing, and to a range of tools of writing, whether it is flash fiction, technical writing, lyrical verse or report writing. We provide workshops on plagiarism and creative commons as well as Individual tutoring sessions.
The Writing Center develops basic writing competency, interest and beyond.

Art- based Writing
Guidance on writing that involves how to describe the visual with verbal expressions. Often, art and design writing is different than social science and language and literature writing. This is because art and design describe the processes of making and sensory experience are central and this requires special training such as reading curatorial essays, and art and design books, design culture journals, studies in fashion. Each discipline in art and design has their own vocabularies and methodologies, which are slightly different than social science and culture studies.

Guidance on technical writing: technical writing aims to deliver clear, coherent, cogent and consistent information in an accessible manner, to customers. The content is mostly used to help users perform tasks with a product, or to navigate a procedure. Manuals, online help, technical blogs/websites, and scripting for tutorial videos are the main deliverables in this genre. However, reports, memos, and proposals also are referred to as forms of technical writing. Most companies follow customised style and tools to publish user-centric content.
The technical writing faculty members of the Writing Center can help designers write about their product and how to use it. One-on-one meetings can be arranged where content is discussed in greater detail. This wing can also hold workshops for graduating students who aspire to consider joining the lucrative technical writing profession or who simply wish to add this useful skill to their existing portfolio.
