Postgraduate Diploma Program (PGDP)

Overview

Taught over two semesters the Postgraduate Diploma Program (PGDP) has been crafted for those individuals who join us with an undergraduate degree and sense a need to develop their art and design skills. The PGDP allows the individual to choose among three programs, each of which have been designed to align to different levels of learning.

Program 1: Bridge

This program makes it possible for a student to enter the Professional Post Graduate Program at Srishti Manipal with three years of undergraduate education from a totally unrelated discipline. The program is preparatory and foundational and will engender the essential thinking and making skills needed to join the various professional courses offered at the Masters level.

After successful completion of the Bridge, students will get automatic entry into the Masters’ program at Srishti Manipal in the area of specialisation that they had chosen in the PGDP year:

Postgraduate Professional Program in Design
Postgraduate Professional Program in Fine Arts
Postgraduate Professional Program in Planning

Program 2: Finish

The purpose of the Finish program is to provide an opportunity to learn and advance one’s practice in a chosen field. It is a space to refine knowledge after an undergraduate program or a period of work experience in fields such as Animation, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design, etc. This program helps to build on previously acquired skills with strategic pedagogic support and inputs in art, design and research processes.

The Finish program is available in the following courses and pathways

Art Practice Pathways

Design Practice Pathways

New Humanities and Design Pathway

Many new careers have emerged today which value design thinking and creative and artistic expression. Students who choose to do this program will find themselves transformed. After their time at Srishti Manipal, they will be able to consider newer spaces and opportunities within their chosen fields.

Program 3: Apprenticeship

This is a unique program custom designed for graduates of three or four-year undergraduates in either art, design or allied fields to practice as an “apprentice” under a master artist, designer or film-maker. Students will immerse themselves in projects at the chosen lab or centre. This program requires the student to have an independent learning mindset.

The following Centres / Labs / Projects are accepting apprentices
